Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi has taken to social media late on Friday, to break his silence on the recent suspension imposed on him by the club.
For those who may have missed it, veteran attacker Messi took his place front and centre in the headlines in France’s capital earlier this week.
This came upon the Argentine being heavily punished for an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia.
Fresh off a shock Ligue 1 defeat at the hands of Lorient, Messi made his way to the Middle East, as part of his role as travel ambassador for the nation of Saudi Arabia.
It was subsequently revealed, however, that the journey had not been approved by the powers that be at PSG, with the 35-year-old having been expected at training alongside the rest of Christophe Galtier’s squad.
Messi, in turn, was hit with a two-week suspension by the French champions.

As alluded to above, though, late on Friday, at last, Messi has spoken out.
In a post to his official Instagram account, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner revealed that his trip abroad came owing to the assumption that he and his teammates had been afforded the day off.
Messi was nevertheless keen to apologise, though, adding that he is now awaiting the final word on ‘what the club wants to do with me’.
