The wife of Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has, on Friday, provided an insight into the meaning behind her husband’s new-look celebration.
The name of seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi has of course taken its place centre stage in the football headlines once more over the course of the last week.
This comes with the veteran attacker fresh off a predictably productive start to life in MLS.
After netting an injury-time free-kick winner on his Inter debut against Cruz Azul, Messi went on to add a brace, as well as an assist, en route to a 4-0 drubbing of Atlanta United on Wednesday night.
As alluded to above, though, the endeavours of the World Cup winner in front of goal were not the sole reason for Messi catching the headlines in midweek.
In addition, the 36-year-old caught the eye courtesy of a head-turning new-look goal celebration.

For those who may not have recognised the pose, Messi’s wife, in turn, has today moved to provide some clarity.
In a post on her official Instagram account, Antonela Roccuzzo unveiled a side-by-side, confirming that her husband was paying tribute to fictional character Thor, of the Marvel Universe:
