Liverpool and French giants Paris Saint Germain are both chasing Sporting CP central defender Goncalo Inacio this summer as they look to bolster their ranks after disappointing seasons.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have suffered a disappointing campaign, and despite a tactical switch seeing an upturn in results as of late, they are still set to miss out on Champions League football for next season.

Meanwhile, PSG have struggled in Ligue 1 despite leading the table, and have a host of changes planned for the summer with both Lionel Messi and Neymar free to leave, according to reports.

They have already agreed a deal for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, who will join the French champions on a free transfer this summer when his contract in Italy expires.

But they want to add further options in the heart of defence, with Inacio having caught the eye thanks to his standout season in Portugal.

The 21-year-old has made 29 appearances for Sporting in the Portuguese top flight, and played every minute as his side knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League across two legs in March.

Liverpool are also hot on his heels, with both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez expected to leave this summer and fresh blood needed in the heart of defence.

Priced at £40m, he could prove a bargain should he fulfil his enormous potential, and the Reds have already reportedly made contact over the star in the making.

Though their priority remains midfielders, with all of Mason Mount, Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister on their wishlist, they also wish to add more cover at the back, and Inacio could fit the bill.
