Supporters of Premier League giants Liverpool have taken to social media in numbers on Sunday evening, to take aim at a key member of West Ham United’s attacking ranks.

The player in question? Michail Antonio.

Liverpool and West Ham, of course, went head-to-head earlier today, in a highly-anticipated showdown at Anfield.

When all was said and done, it was the former who emerged on the right side of the result, owing to goals on the part of all of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Diogo Jota.

The aforementioned Antonio, meanwhile, featured from the off, only to be hooked 15 minutes from time amid something of an underwhelming display.

It was not the frontman’s latest showing, however, which has since given rise to a Liverpool-led pile-on across social media.

Speaking earlier this week, West Ham’s all-action striker surprised the masses, in revealing his opinion that David Moyes’ men, come the season’s close, will be sitting above Liverpool in the Premier League table.

Not only that, but he assured that the Irons would emerge on top come the full-time whistle on Sunday:

“I’m putting it out there. I watched the game ( Wolves 1-3 Liverpool) because it was before our game and Wolves could have run away with it.

“They had quite a few opportunities. We’ve got them this weekend and it’s a six-pointer. We’ve got them!”

Left altogether red-faced on Merseyside, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the Liverpool faithful making full use of the opportunity to poke fun at Antonio.
