Gakpo made the switch to England on the back of a superb World Cup with the Netherlands and a very impressive stint with PSV, which saw him scoring and creating plenty of goals.
However, Gakpo did take some time to adapt to his new side and was struggling to find the net.
Luckily for Liverpool, Gakpo is beginning to rediscover his form heading into the business end of the campaign.
Gakpo has now scored in Liverpool’s last two league outings, helping pick up two crucial 2-0 wins as the Reds push for 4th place.
Now, ahead of facing Real Madrid on Tuesday, Gakpo has been discussing his best position after being used on the left and as a centre-forward under Jurgen Klopp:
“What Liverpool can expect from me is, of course, my goals and my passing. I can take the game from midfield into attack. I can switch between the lines with the ball and then sprint towards goal. That’s one of my qualities, and that’s one of the things that I can give to this club,” he said.
“When I play down the middle, I get more chances to move forward with the ball. That’s maybe less the case when I play on the left, but it’s not really a preference that I have. I’m just happy to play.”
