Few, if any, would have predicted Liverpool’s current fall from grace in the Premier League this season under beloved manager Jürgen Klopp as the Reds come into the 242nd Merseyside Derby against bitter rivals Everton sitting mid-table and on a four-match winless run on the back of a heavy 3-0 defeat away against Julen Lopetegui’s Wolves last weekend.
With questions coming thick and fast from all corners of the fanbase and punditry circles alike, there is only one acceptable response for Liverpool on Monday night when they can hopefully tap into their recent dominance over Sean Dyche’s Toffees, who have managed just two wins in the last thirty attempts. But Everton’s fantastic 1-0 win against Arsenal last weekend confirmed the new manager bounce under Dyche, and certainly, nothing is guaranteed at Anfield just two days from now.

Jürgen Klopp will be hopeful of a much-needed return to matchday XI duties by key holding midfielder Fabinho after the Brazilian international missed the heavy defeat against Wolves last time out. If he is fit enough to start, there is a real chance Klopp will turn to one of his most trusted on-field lieutenants to help the club get back to winning ways.
Unfortunately for the Reds boss, a cadre of senior figures remain laid up in drydock and on the treatment table, with Ibrahima Konaté, Diogo Jota, Luis Díaz, and Arthur not anywhere close to a full return. Dutch stalwart Virgil van Dijk and key striker Roberto Firmino are the closest to returning to the fold during what is sure to be a critical period of the season for Liverpool both in the Premier League and the Champions League, which is set to resume next week.
