A major update on Arsenal’s ongoing pursuit of West Ham United star Declan Rice has been reported in the media on Saturday.

The name of England international Rice has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of north London for some time now.

This comes after Mikel Arteta earmarked the 24-year-old as the ideal addition to his ranks in the middle of the park with a view to next season.

The powers that be at West Ham, for their part, are understood to be standing firm in their mammoth demands for the club’s star man, whilst rival interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United make Arsenal’s path to Rice’s signature an even trickier one.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Saturday is anything to go by, then the Gunners, despite the odds, appear to be closing on a deal for their no.1 target.

As per a report from Football Insider:

Not only that, but the 41-time capped international is understood to have reached a verbal agreement over the terms of a contract at The Emirates.
