A surprise swap deal between English and German heavyweights Manchester United and Bayern Munich has been floated online late on Sunday.

The deal in question comes amid claims that the former are expressing an interest in an out-of-favour member of United’s midfield ranks.

The player in question? Scott McTominay.

As per a report from German outlet BILD, Bayern, amid a late-window push for reinforcements in the middle of the park, have identified McTominay as a chief target.

With the powers that be at Old Trafford expected to imminently step up their efforts to land Fiorentina standout Sofyan Amrabat, the Scot, in turn, will soon be deemed surplus to requirements by boss Erik ten Hag and co.

This will open the door for interested parties to strike, with Bayern, seemingly, one such side keen to take advantage of McTominay’s situation.

BILD’s Christian Falk points towards Ryan Gravenberch, long tipped for a move to the Premier League, as being at the centre of ‘discussions’ at the Allianz Arena.

This comes with Bayern said to be considering an exchange proposal, which would see Dutch international Gravenberch make his way to Manchester, with McTominay heading in the other direction.
