Premier League giants Manchester United are giving serious consideration to recognising the remarkable rise of up-and-coming attacker Alejandro Garnacho, by way of an iconic new squad number.

Wide-man Garnacho, of course, is fresh off something of a breakout campaign.

Afforded a full-time first-team berth by incoming United boss Erik ten Hag, the Argentine took full advantage, quickly establishing himself as one of the most highly-regarded academy talents at Old Trafford for some time.

Garnacho, all told, racked up 34 appearances across all competitions, including five league starts, notching five goals and four assists along the way.

Not only that, but the level of his performances off the bench saw calls mount across the Red Devils fanbase for the starlet to be made use of ahead of the likes of Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial.

All of this comes despite Garnacho, remarkably, still being just 18 years of age.

As per a report from Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, the United brass are giving serious consideration to handing Garnacho a new squad number.

The number in question? The iconic 7, previously donned by the likes of George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The jersey currently lies vacant in Erik ten Hag’s squad, on the back of Ronaldo’s January exit.

Could Garnacho, then, be the next great Manchester United no.7?
