Supporters of Premier League giants Manchester United have taken to social media in their numbers on Thursday evening, to send a collective message to boss Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils, of course, are currently locked in action.
After slipping to a 6-3 drubbing at the hands of fierce rivals Man City in their return to action on the back of the international break at the weekend, Ten Hag’s troops turned their attentions towards matters on the continent, eyeing a return to winning ways in a Europa League meeting with Neil Lennon’s Omonia.
As things stand with 45 minutes on the clock in Cyprus, though, United only look headed towards another embarrassing loss.
This comes with Omonia, remarkably, leading their heavily favoured opponents by a goal to nil.
The difference-maker when it comes to the scoreline at the Tsirion Athlítiko Kentro comes in the form of Karim Ansarifard, whose superb near post finish just beyond the half-hour mark left David de Gea with no chance:
Europa League nights always produce headlines… 💫

And one such member of Erik ten Hag’s squad to have been on the receiving end of such annoyances comes in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo.
After being reintroduced to the starting XI on Thursday, Ronaldo sparked fury across his side’s fanbase during the first-half of action.
This came as the Portuguese icon blazed a free-kick from a presentable position some way clear of the Omonia crossbar.
Calls, in turn, have spread like wildfire across social media for Ronaldo to be relieved of his set-piece duties with immediate effect:
I think it’s time we stop Ronaldo taking free kicks.

Putting Ronaldo on free kick duty in the year of our lord 2022 is insanity

Ronaldo shouldn’t be taking free kicks anymore & its been that way for a few years now you’re just throwing away dangerous set pieces #mufc

Bruno Fernandes and Eriksen on the pitch but somehow Ronaldo is taking free-kicks

Honestly, it’s time someone at the club told Ronaldo he’s not taking free kicks when Eriksen is on the pitch. It’s getting beyond ridiculous. #MUFC

Why is Cristiano Ronaldo still taking free-kicks in big 2022!? There’s literally Eriksen and Bruno on the pitch.

Why is Ronaldo taking edge of the box free kicks when we have Eriksen on the pitch?! 🤷🏻♂️ https://t.co/hvhm030vG5
