Premier League giants Manchester United have opened negotiations with an up-and-coming member of the club’s squad, over the terms of a new contract.
The player in question? Hannibal Mejbri.
The name of midfielder Hannibal, of course, has emerged as a leading one in the headlines on the red half of Manchester over the course of the last week.
This comes amid calls for the Tunisian international to be afforded an extended opportunity in United’s first-team by boss Erik ten Hag.
Hannibal was handed his first appearance of the season last time out, in a Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion.
And though his side were ultimately put to the sword in deserved fashion, the 20-year-old made his impact very much felt, in netting the Red Devils’ only goal of the evening courtesy of a fine strike from distance.

This comes amid claims that United are now working towards tying Hannibal down for the long-term.
As per a report from 90min:
‘Manchester United are looking to tie promising midfielder Hannibal Mejbri down to a new contract, sources have confirmed to 90min.’
Talks are understood to have been opened between the two parties, ahead of the expiration of the former Monaco talent’s current terms in 2024.
Erik ten Hag, for his part, is a ‘big fan’ of Hannibal, with the collective feeling at United being that he is ‘worthy of being handed a new deal’.
