Two highly-regarded members of the academy setup at Premier League champions Man City are in line to cross the Manchester divide to line out for arch rivals United, it has been revealed.
The players in question? Jack and Tyler Fletcher, twin sons of none other than former Red Devils star Darren.
As revealed by transfer insider David Ornstein, negotiations between the respective boards at Old Trafford and The Etihad were kicked into gear last week.
City, for their part, were hopeful of the Fletcher brothers ultimately opting to rebuff the advances of the club’s bitter rivals, but it would appear that the allure of joining their father at United – where he now acts as a technical director – proved too tempting an opportunity to turn down.
‘His senior position at United is believed to have heightened an internal desire — driven by head of academy Nick Cox — to bring Jack and Tyler across town’, Ornstein adds.
A transfer is therefore ‘expected to be completed’, for a potentially substantial fee.
The Sky Blues’ loss, safe to say, will therefore prove United’s gain.
