Manchester City Team News

  • Out: N/A
  • Doubt: Kevin De Bruyne

It did not take long for Manchester City to climb right back up to the top of the Premier League table after a straightforward 3-0 win over West Ham United last night in front of home support at the Etihad Stadium.

And it was a night to remember not just for fans, but also Erling Haaland, after the 22-year-old Norwegian star broke the single-season goal record with a lovely chipped effort to double City’s lead to bag his 35th league goal with room to spare. Haaland’s name is now forever etched in Premier League lore after eclipsing the joint record held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole.

That effort, and an upcoming Champions League semi-finals clash with Real Madrid, could be enough of a reason for Pep Guardiola to rest the mercurial front man when struggling Leeds United comes to town at the weekend, despite Haaland’s chance of hitting the otherwordly mark of 40 goals in a single campaign. Guardiola has just one concern coming into the tie surrounding Kevin De Bruyne, and the Belgian playmaker may not be risked on account of the upcoming Madrid clash. Otherwise, City has no other issues at the time of writing.
