Premier League champions Manchester City have revealed their 1999-inspired away kit for the upcoming season.

Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to win their fifth consecutive title and will do so in a black and yellow PUMA strip that celebrates the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

On 30 May, 1999, City beat Gillingham in the play-off final in dramatic fashion.

Having trailed by two goals in the match, the Manchester club equalised in the 95th minute through Paul Dickov to force extra time.

City would eventually go on to triumph after a penalty shootout and earn their promotion.

And now the classic kit worn by the team on that day is making a comeback.

Dickov, the hero for City, said: “It’s fantastic to see this year’s away kit revealed today.

“The 1999 Play-Off final victory still remains a special moment for myself and City fans around the world and I know the kit from that day is remembered by those who were there and beyond.

“It’s a wonderful gesture by the Club and PUMA to commemorate the anniversary with this year’s away kit.”

PUMA were keen to capture the history of City and chose to do so through an iconic moment.

It is the 25th anniversary of the 1999 play-off final and will serve as a reminder to both fans and players of how far the club has come since then.
