Manchester United are among 15 clubs around Europe chasing talented forward Mateo Retegui, who has already scored 23 times this season for Mexican side Tigres on loan from Boca Juniors.
The Red Devils are in need of a striker, and though they recruited Burnley forward Wout Weghorst on loan for the remainder of the season, they are expected to look elsewhere in the summer.
With the impromptu departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, only the injury-prone Antony Martial remains to lead the line, and he has never truly shown his ability to do so on a consistent basis at Old Trafford.
One solution is Mateo Retegui, a 23-year-old striker currently impressing in South America, which has become a goldmine for talent in recent months with the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Endrick and Julian Alvarez all arriving in Europe or agreeing deals to do so.

And, as per French sources, United are one of 15 clubs around Europe interested in tempting the Boca Juniors striker away, with the 23-year-old in hot demand following his impressive scoring run.
However, they will face plenty of competition. It is added that all of Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the star on the rise, who is described as “a powerful player, rather skillful, good in front of goal and especially with his head”.
United, in need of a striker but not blessed with money (though they are set to be subject to a takeover), could outsmart the market for a gem.
