Manchester United have, on Thursday, been dealt an altogether concerning blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that first-choice left-back Luke Shaw has picked up an injury.
England international Shaw, as expected, has played a key role for Erik ten Hag’s troops over the early weeks of the new season, featuring from the off in both of United’s Premier League fixtures.
As revealed by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, however:
‘Luke Shaw is expected to be sidelined for an extended period after sustaining a muscle injury.’
It remains unclear just how long Shaw is likely to be out of action, with the full extent of his problem yet to be discovered.

This means that no fewer than six members of the Red Devils’ first-team setup are now unavailable for selection, for one reason or another.
The others? Malacia, Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo, and Kobbie Mainoo.
