Manchester United are ready to pay club captain Harry Maguire a massive £10m should he agree to leave the club this summer, with Erik ten Hag looking to streamline his squad ahead of the new season.
Maguire has started just 8 times in the Premier League this season, though he did play 90 minutes in the final game of the season against Fulham, with Ten Hag rotating his squad to allow some of his stars to rest ahead of the FA Cup final clash with Manchester City.
He is widely expected to depart this summer in a bid to keep his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming European Championships next summer, and the United boss can understand why.
“No-one would be happy with this situation,” Ten Hag told The Times.
“He is not as well. He trains always on best levels, so with 100% effort.

“So he handles that situation well and he’s in that manner and in his captaincy he’s important for the squad.”
“Let’s say I’m happy he’s here and when we needed him he did his job. But it’s also a decision he has to make.”
According to the Daily Mail however, Manchester United will have to pay half of Harry Maguire’s £190,000 per week wages for the next two years to see him leave this summer, a sum amounting to £10m to get their club captain off the books amid reported interest from West Ham United.
This is a move that has been seen before across the Premier League, with Arsenal notoriously paying both Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave the Emirates Stadium in recent seasons, and it could be a move that works out as well for United and Maguire as it did for Mikel Arteta.
