Manchester United’s backroom reshuffle continued this afternoon with Jelle ten Rouwelaar joining the club as first-team goalkeeping coach.

Ten Rouwelaar links up with United after a two-week stint with Ajax which concluded when United paid the Amsterdammers a compensation figure reported to be in the region of £85,000.

Prior to joining Ajax, the 43-year-old worked at Burnley under new Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany.

Ten Rouwelaar joins Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake – who were named as assistants to Erik ten Hag last week – in moving to Old Trafford since the end of last season.

Ten Hag told the club’s official website: “Jelle is experienced with English football and he has some great innovations in goalkeeping, a new approach and it’s very interesting.

“I’m convinced he will really help our game, as a team, but especially the keepers, as a squad, as a team, their position in the team and how they’re aligned with the rest of the team and playing as a collective.”
