Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Leny Yoro with the defender set for a medical on Wednesday.

Multiple sources including Fabrizio Romano say United have agreed a £52million fee with Lille for the highly-rated 18-year-old.

The Frenchman attracted interested from a number of top clubs including Real Madrid, who were seemingly United’s main competition for the youngster.

Yoro made his debut for Lille at the age of 16 before rising to become one of Ligue 1’s top centre-backs last season.

He was picked in Thierry Henry’s France squad for the Olympics but was ommitted due to Lille’s participation in the Champions League preliminary rounds.

The France Under-21 international is now expected to join up with Erik ten Hag’s side and hands a huge boost to their options at the back.

United are reportedly still interested in adding further defensive options, with Bayern Munich’s Mattjis de Ligt and Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite believed to be among their targets.

Rafael Varane left the club this summer while there are doubts over the future of Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof.

Yoro is set to become the Red Devils’ second signing after the acquisition of Netherlands forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.
