Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has undergone successful surgery following an injury he picked up during pre-season.

The 18-year-old has only just joined the Red Devils from Lille but picked up an issue on just his second appearance for the club.

He hobbled off during the friendly against Premier League rivals Arsenal but it was unknown whether Yoro would be out for a long period of time.

And United have now confirmed they will be missing the centre-back for several weeks.

A statement on the club website read: “Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has today had a successful surgery on his foot injury.

“Our summer signing from Lille sustained the injury during the team’s recent friendly match against Arsenal in Los Angeles, USA.

“Yoro’s rehabilitation starts now and we look forward to the 18-year-old returning to fitness in around three months.”

With Yoro being out for three months, it means he will miss a significant portion of the new campaign.

Set to return in November, United fans will  have to wait to see their £50million man turn out at Old Trafford.

But it is good news for the likes of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans, who will likely fill in during the Frenchman’s absence.
