Marseille sign Greenwood from Manchester United on five-year deal

Mason Greenwood has joined Ligue 1 side Marseille from Manchester United on a five-year deal.

The French club have paid a reported £26.6million (€30m) for the forward, who has not played for United since January 2022 and spent last seaosn on loan at Getafe.

Serious charges against the 22-year-old, including rape and assault, were dropped in February 2023.

Marseille were criticised by the mayor of the city after news of his signing became apparent.

He will wear the No10 shirt, vacated by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Thursday, and work under former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi at the Stade Velodrome.

United reportedly have a whopping 50% sell-on clause for their academy graduate.

Greenwood made 129 appearances and scored 35 goals for the Red Devils and made his only England cap in 2020.

He scored 10 goals in 36 appearances for Getafe last term.
