Newcastle have released their new away kit with a design that throws back to their memorable shirt worn in 1995-96.

The shirt features a similar horizontal navy and burgundy striped design worn by Kevin Keegan’s ‘Entertainers’ almost 20 years ago.

That strip, also made by adidas, went down hugely popular with the fans and the modern recreation is sure prove a similar hit.

Manager Eddie Howe said: “adidas have done an amazing job with our kits, and I’m sure the new away kit will be hugely popular with players and supporters everywhere.

“This is an iconic club built on history and the 1995-96 team was one of our most entertaining ever.

“I’m sure our supporters will appreciate the nod to that era and will look forward to seeing our teams wearing it on the road.”

The new shirt will be worn for the first time in their first away game of the season against Bournemouth on August 25.

Howe’s men kick off the campaign at home to newly-promoted Southampton on Saturday.

The kit is available to purchase from today via the official Newcastle United club store and online at shop.newcastleunited.com.
