Kieran Trippier is in contention to return to action for Newcastle’s final home game of the season against Brighton on Saturday.
The England right-back has not featured since early February and could hand Eddie Howe a huge boost as the Magpies look to strengthen their grip on a top-six place.

Howe said: “Kieran is getting closer, he has trained this week. It was the first time with the group.
“He trained well, it has been a good week for him. I will make a decision today whether he will be involved tomorrow.
“He is desperate to be involved and he has been contribute for a few weeks. He knows that he has to manage his injury and make sure there is no recurrence of the calf injury.
“He is refreshed and has had some time away. It has helped him mentally and he’s raring to go.”
Eddie Howe on the challenge of Brighton:

Fabian Schar has been ruled out of the Seagulls clash, though Howe did say the defender could feature on the final day having previously ruled him out for the rest of the season following an injury picked up against Sheffield United.
The Toon boss addded: “He won’t figure tomorrow. Let’s see next week. He’s certainly improving and feeling good.”
Goalkeeping dilemma
Howe has a big call to make in the goalkeeping department with No1 Nick Pope fit enough to make the bench again but deputy Martin Dubravka in good form for the Magpies.
“I think if both keepers were 100% fit that is a very difficult call. Nick is still building his robustness,” Howe said
“Last week was very clear. Martin deserved to play and Nick is still finding his rhythm. Nick is in a good place and building his strength back up.”
Joelinton and Miguel Almiron are also available after making their returns in last week’s 4-1 win at Burnley.
