Newcastle United continue to throw money around as they look to add late additions to their squad in an attempt to stave off the drop from the Premier League.

Now, according to reports coming out of France, they are looking to double down on the agreement reached for Bruno Guimaraes by offering 20 million euros for Bayer Leverkusen left-back Mitchel Bakker.

The news comes courtesy of French outlet L’Equipe, who claim that a bid was sent on Monday, and that representatives are already in Newcastle trying to make a deal happen.

Should that swoop, and the move for Guimaraes take shape, it could take Newcastle’s spending beyond the 80 million pound mark, across 4 additions.

Bid for Armando Broja mooted

In their bid to balance experienced additions with “value for money” youthful options, one player falling into the latter category, according to reports in Italy, is Chelsea loanee Armando Broja. The Albanian forward has impressed during his stint at Southampton so far this season, scoring 5 times in 18 Premier League outings.

And, according to Fabrizio Romano, Southampton are ready to launch a 25 million pound bid for his services.

However, as per TuttoMercato, the Saints will be outbid by the newly-wealthy Newcastle United, with the Magpies ready to table an offer worth 40 million euros (33.3 million pounds) this window, in the hope of stealing a march on other potential suitors.

As of right now, however, Chelsea remain unsure as to whether Broja will be allowed to depart Stamford Bridge in the summer.
