Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on the progress of a key member of the midfield setup at Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, according to reports.
The player in question? Dominik Szoboszlai.
For those not aware, the powers that be at St. James’ Park have long set their sights on reinforcements in the attacking midfield role.
Having impressed en route to clinching a Champions League berth for next season, the Magpies are ready to kick on, with the addition of a fresh creative presence having been identified as a priority.
Leicester City’s James Maddison is one option long touted to link up with Eddie Howe’s troops in the media, with the looming prospect of relegation to the Championship meaning the England international could even be available for a cut-price fee.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word doing the rounds on Thursday evening is anything to go by, then Newcastle appear to be keeping their options open.
Versatile midfielder Szoboszlai is in the midst of a fine campaign at the Red Bull Arena, which has seen him rack up nine goals and 13 assists across all competitions.
And, evidently, such production has intrigued Eddie Howe and co, who are closely watching his progress with a view to a potential summer bid.
