A telling update on the future of Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has come to the fore late on Friday.
For those who may have missed it, the name of Brazilian international Guimaraes has taken its place front and centre in the headlines on Tyneside across the last 24 hours.
This comes after the Newcastle faithful were rocked by news that big-spending Chelsea are preparing a fresh approach for the club’s star midfielder in the summer, after seeing initial advances rebuffed during the January transfer window.

Guimaraes, for his part, has established himself as perhaps the most integral member of Eddie Howe’s squad across the season to date, with his absence owing to injury having directly coincided with a concerning dip in form on the part of the Magpies last month.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear that the powers that be at St. James’ Park have already begun putting plans in place to fend off the interest of not only Chelsea, but top clubs from across the continent, ahead of the season’s conclusion.
As confirmed by a number of reliable sources late on Friday, Guimaraes is in ‘advanced talks’ to extend his current Newcastle contract.
