An up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at Premier League outfit Newcastle United has, on Saturday, secured a prestigious piece of individual silverware.

The Magpies star in question? Anthony Gordon.

For those not aware, wide-man Gordon was back in action a short time ago, afforded his latest start for England’s U21s.

After enjoying a stellar tournament to date, Lee Carsley’s troops made the trip to Batumi, for a European Championship finale showdown with heavyweights Spain.

The Young Lions headed into proceedings having remarkably not conceded a single goal across the span of the competition.

And, when all was said and done, a sixth clean sheet on the trot proved enough to guide England to glory on the continent.

Post-match at the Adjarabet Arena, the names of the likes of James Travers (owing to a last-gasp penalty save), Levi Colwill, and goalscorer Jones all understandably took their respective places centre stage online.

As alluded to above, though, it was in fact another member of Lee Carsley’s squad who saw his performances at the Euros honoured, by way of an individual award.

As confirmed in the aftermath of tonight’s action, Newcastle United talent Anthony Gordon has been named the U21 European Championship Player of the Tournament:
