French giants Paris Saint-Germain look set to offload yet another young talent after reports from L’Équipe detail the likely departure of 20-year-old Hugo Ekitiké.

According to the report, Ekitiké’s future is likely to be outside of Paris. As detailed by Get French Football, “PSG are looking to offload Ekitike, who has just four goals in 27 appearances for Les Parisiens, in the summer. According to a European recruiter contacted by L’Équipe, the club may favour a loan with a purchase option. This may prevent Les Parisiens from making considerable losses on a player that they signed on loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent for €40m.”

Despite reports in Foot Mercato yesterday stating that Ekitiké wants to remain at PSG while the club’s sporting director Luís Campos has apparently not sat down with the French youth international to discuss a move away from the city of lights, Newcastle United is among four clubs that would reportedly be interested in adding him into the senior ranks.

Though Eddie Howe’s dark horse Champions League-chasing Magpies added Swedish star Alexander Isak this past summer, a lack of depth at center-forward for the long haul would open a window for the club to move for the player, especially given previous interest from Tyneside before missing out on the former Stade de Reims striker.

Any pathway to a possible capture would not be easy, with reports linking Juventus, AC Milan, and Eintracht Frankfurt with interest in the Reims-born forward, but with Newcastle’s options through the middle consisting only of the aforementioned Isak as well as the perennially injured Callum Wilson, there is scope to suggest that a move to the northeast of England could be a fine pathway to progression for a player in need of revitalization.
