Newcastle United Team News

  • Out: Emil Krafth, Ryan Fraser
  • Doubt: Allan Saint-Maximin, Fabian Schär

Eddie Howe’s high-flying Newcastle United edge ever closer to a return to the Champions League after nearly two decades as the Magpies continue to make strides under new ownership and a manager in Howe that has proven himself to be far more capable than many once thought. Currently sitting third in the table with a six-point cushion on their top-four place, a trip to Merseyside to take on relegation-candidates Everton offers an avenue to another three-point haul should they be in the mood in midweek.

Howe has no major fitness concerns, with just Emil Krafth and Ryan Fraser guaranteed to be absent from proceedings. There are questions surrounding the availability of Allan Saint-Maximin and Fabian Schär, however. ASM is expected to miss out on the clash at Goodison Park with a view to make him fit and available for the weekend outing against Southampton, while Schär faced a late assessment after suffering a hamstring problem. Should he pass fit, he is almost guaranteed to feature in the XI.
