Tottenham forward Dejan Kulusevski has labelled teammate Rodrigo Bentancur ‘one of the most underrated players in the world’ following his brace to hand Tottenham victory over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.
The Lilywhites fell behind three times to Jesse Marsch’s Leeds side in north London, but came back in the final minutes of the game to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat against the Yorkshire side.
And that was largely thanks to Bentancur, who scored twice in two minutes to turn their fortunes around. It is the second time in a fortnight for the Uruguayan, who also scored the winner in the dying seconds of their 3-2 victory over Bournemouth on the south coast.
It takes Bentancur to five goals for the season, his best-ever return, and he has become an integral part of Antonio Conte’s side since he joined in a double deal with Dejan Kulusevski on transfer deadline day last January.
And his form prompted Kulusevski to label him as hugely underrated in the footballing world, after he laid on the winner for his fellow former Juventus man.
“When we were 3-3 I said in my head that the next time I get the ball I am going to shoot and I am going to score”, he told BBC Sport after the win.
“He is a fantastic player, one of the most underrated players in the world, so I am very happy for him”, the Swede added.
Tottenham head into the World Cup break in 4th place, three points behind second-place Manchester City and eight adrift of north London rivals Arsenal.
