Haaland has enjoyed a bright start to his Premier League career.
The Norwegian scored twice on the opening weekend as Man City saw off West Ham. He then provided an assist last weekend vs newly-promoted Bournemouth.
Speaking recently, though, Pep Guardiola has suggested that Haaland is still not at his full potential and explained how he can reach it with Man City:
“We are delighted with Erling,” Guardiola said. “The little details still we miss but not just with him, with everything. It’s just a question of time. I don’t have any doubts, it’s just a question of time like all the new players. The connections, the chemistry on the pitch, the right moments, the right tempo with the players. This is a question of games, games and games.”
Haaland’s next outing for Man City is expected to come on Sunday vs Newcastle.
City have an excellent record against the Magpies and just last season netted nine and conceded zero in their two meetings.
“What happened in the past is the past. If you’ve had bad results in the past it means nothing,” he said. “Newcastle is a project not just for one or two seasons. We’ve seen in this window everyone spends a lot. I think they are here to stay here.
“Nobody has the secret to success in world football. Not even City. One of the good things this club has is that we’re aligned with the hierarchy, the way we wanna play and the players we buy. It doesn’t mean that having the same idea means success, for many reasons.”
