Foden was in action for Manchester City on Sunday as they smashed six past Manchester United.
Erling Haaland netted himself a hat-trick, but Foden also bagged himself his first ever hat-trick on the day.
The Englishman opened the scoring and was then assisted twice in the second half by Erling Haaland to take home a match ball.
Foden has now scored 52 goals for Man City under Pep Guardiola, and is the youngest player under Pep to reach 50 goals, beating the record previously set by Lionel Messi.
Now, The Athletic report on Monday that Manchester City are hopeful that Foden will sign a new contract as early as this week following lengthy negotiations.
The England forward, who is a local lad and a City fan, has never been looking to leave the club but talks were delayed due to a change in his management.
Foden’s current deal was set to run out in 2024.
After scoring three vs United, Pep Guardiola had this to say on Foden: “Phil is a reality. He is still a young lad, but he played important games with us. But he ran, he pressed and showed intensity,” Guardiola said.
“He is a talent – it is a reality. He lives for football and hopefully he can stay many years with us.”
