Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou admits the club can never replace a “generational player” like Harry Kane.
The 31-year-old left for Bayern Munich last summer but will return to North London on Saturday when the Bavarians face Spurs in a pre-season friendly.
The club announced their all-time top goalscorer and Eric Dier will both receive commemorative awards from ambassador Ledley King before the game to thank them for their service.
And the Australian, who only got to manage Kane for a few games, was quizzed on whether the club can bring in a natural replacement for the England skipper.
He said: “I don’t think we’ve been looking to replace Harry.
“You can’t replace a generational player. But that’s an area we needed to reinforce this year.
“If I speculate, social media could go into meltdown” 😆

“We’ve been working hard to get the right players in that we need. It’s fair to say we’ve still got a bit of work to do in the transfer window.”
Dominic Solanke is set to join from Bournemouth in a deal worth £60million and the news comes days after Richarlison publicly declined a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
Postecoglou added: “I’m not sure where the uncertainty has come from.
“When he was fit last season he played, and he played all the time. For us, it’s about adding to our squad.
“I feel better prepared, for sure. This time last year there was still a lot happening — lots of comings and goings.
“It feels we’re better prepared [this time]. The training sessions have gone up a notch this year.”
Richarlison will be available for the first time during pre-season after returning from injury over the summer.
As will Destiny Udogie, who was a big miss for Spurs in the closing stages of last season.
