Matchday 37 saw Arsenal secure three points against Manchester United in a 1-0 victory that takes the title race down to the final day. The Gunners sit just one point ahead of title rivals Manchester City who also won at the weekend 4-0 against Wolves.
Manchester City, with a game in hand, face Tottenham before the final day. Spurs must win to be in with a chance of finishing in the top four. While City must win to keep their title hopes alive.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s draw at home to Liverpool has put them five points ahead of Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham in fourth.
Chelsea and manager Mauricio Pochettino could edge their way back into Europe next season after a win on the weekend. They are equal on points with Newcastle, who sit in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Crystal Palace are enjoying a fine run of form that saw them get yet another victory against Wolves, while Brentford, although left it late, secured a win away at Bournemouth.
Down and Out
Elsewhere, it was the end of the road for Vincent Kompany’s Burnley. Despite taking the lead, they ultimately lost to Spurs, which resulted in them being relegated straight back to the Championship.
Luton Town also took the lead early on against West Ham but lost as the Hammers fought back to win the match 2-1.
Although the Hatters are still mathematically safe, the goal difference between Rob Edwards’s side and Nottingham Forest in 17th would require a substantial result on the final day. It sits at 12, with Forest on -19 and Luton on -31.
