The final weekend of the 2023/24 Premier League season is just around the corner and ahead of matchday 38, we look at the top three goal scorers and assists standings to see who is in contention to win this season’s Golden Boot.
📰 Table Of Contents
Erling Haaland – 27 Goals, Five Assists
Last season saw a new record for goals scored in the Premier League by a single player. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland scored a total of 36 goals, a total that earned him the Golden Boot award, winning it comfortably.
At the start of this season, it looked almost a given that the Norweigan would go on to win it for a second successive year after scoring 14 goals in his first 15 games.
However, after sustaining a foot injury in December, the City star was absent from several matches. It meant the race for this season’s Golden Boot was on.
Haaland returned to the City side at the end of January, and it was not long before he was back on the scoresheet. Heading into the final weekend, the striker is in the lead with 27 goals, thanks to his four against Wolves. However, he is still a way off having the most assists, with five from 30 matches.
Cole Palmer – 21 Goals, 10 Assists
Chelsea star Cole Palmer surged into the Golden Boot contenders when he scored four against Everton back in April. The young Englishman scored a first-half hattrick and a second trio just weeks apart.
After his goal against West Ham United put him just three behind Haaland’s total, it looked like a tight fight down to the final few games. This was before the Norweigan scored an incredible four goals in the win over Wolves.
Currently sitting in second place on 21 goals, Palmer has the most assists this season out of the top three scorers. He has doubled that of Haaland, with 10 assists in just two more games.
Alexander Isak – 20 Goals, 1 Assist
The third-highest goal scorer so far this season is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
Chasing down Palmer in second place, Isak is just one goal behind the 23-year-old with 20 goals from 28 games.
Not only is Isak one goal behind, but Ollie Watkins is two behind (19), tied with Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke (19).
The race for second and third is on, but it is almost certain that the Golden Boot winner this season will be that of Erling Haaland once again.
