Eight players have been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Season award for 2023-24.

The accolade will be partially determined by a public vote with fans able to cast a vote via the Premier League website before midday on Monday, May 13.

The votes will be combined with those from a panel of football experts with the winner announced on Saturday, May 18.

Here are the nominees:

Phil Foden – Man City

The 23-year-old has enjoyed another stellar season for Pep Guardiola’s side with 16 goals, including two-hat-tricks, and eight assists to boot. He is trying to be part of the first team to win four straight Premier League titles..

Erling Haaland – Man City

Last year’s winner has scored 25 goals and assisted five more in only 28 Premier League appearances in a stop-start campaign for the Norwegian. He is leading the race for the Golden Boot and is one of only three players with 30 goal involvements this season.

Alexander Isak – Newcastle

The 24-year-old Swede is nominated for a second straight season after scoring 20 goals in just 27 league appearances for Newcastle – the first Magpies player since Alan Shearer in 2002-03 to reach that milestone.

Martin Odegaard – Arsenal

The Arsenal skipper has led by example during their title challenge. The 25-year-old Norwegian has scored eight goals and assisted eight more in addition to creating 94 chances in 33 games, the second most in the Premier League this season.

Cole Palmer – Chelsea

The 22-year-old has enjoyed an incredible debut season after his arrival from Man City. He has scored 21 goals – 16 of them at Stamford Bridge – and has nine assists to become only the third player to reach 30 goal involvements aged 21 or younger.

Declan Rice – Arsenal

The 25-year-old has enjoyed an impressive debut season after his arrival from West Ham last summer. Mikel Arteta has helped him evolve from a holding midfielder into an all-rounder who has scored seven goals and assisted a further eight in addition to making 79 tackles and intercepting 43 passes.

Virgil van Dijk – Liverpool

The 32-year-old Dutch defender has been back to his best this season, making the third most passes in the Premier League and being dribbled past only twice in 34 games this campaign. Only one defender has won more than van Dijk’s 186 aerial duels this season.

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

With 19 goals and 12 assists, the 28-year-old Villa forward has the most goal involvements of any player in the Premier League with 31 in his 35 appearances. He is fourth in the race for the Golden Boot but has a two-assist advantage in the hunt for the Playmaker Award.
