Kylian Mbappe scored in his first game for Real Madrid as they beat Atalanta 2-0 to win the UEFA Super Cup.

The French superstar, whose completed a high-profile move to the Bernabeu from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, netted Real’s second in the 68th minute to seal the victory in Warsaw.

Mbappe was picked out by England star Jude Bellingham before the 25-year-old found the top corner from 12 yards out.

Federico Valverde had opened the scoring seven minutes earlier, with Bellingham also involved in the build-up before Vinicius Junior skipped past a few players to tee up the Uruguayan.

The victory saw Los Blancos, who won the Champions League for the 15th time this summer, lift the Super Cup for a record sixth time and make an ideal start to their 2024-25 campaign.

Mbappe struggled to impose himself during a quiet first 25 minutes as Gian Piero Gasperini’s Europa League winners proved more than a match for the kings of Europe.

But the LaLiga giants looked a different side after the break, with Valverde’s opener just reward for their dominance.

Valverde only had to tap home after some fine work by Vinicius Jr, who fainted past a few defenders before precisely picking out the 26-year-old who was able to tap into an open net.

And Real began to turn the screw from that point as the Serie A side faded, with Mbappe’s goal ensuring the Super Cup would be heading Real’s way once again.

Bellingham picked up the ball by the byline on the left before smartly cutting the ball back into the path of the France captain, who made no mistake as he lashed home.

Mbappe will get his first taste of LaLiga action in their opener at Mallorca on Sunday.
