An insight into the plans of the powers that be at Championship leaders Burnley for shining loan signing Ian Maatsen has been provided on Thursday.
For those not aware, youngster Maatsen made the move to Turf Moor last summer, after being granted a temporary departure from Premier League giants Chelsea.
And to say that the defender has since proven a fine addition would be something of an understatement.
Across starts in 30 of Burnley’s 37 Championship fixtures, Maatsen has directly contributed to a head-turning ten goals, courtesy of four goals and six assists from his left-back berth.
And such production has proven absolutely central to Vincent Kompany’s troops surging a full 13 points clear at the Championship’s summit.

In turn, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to hear that Burnley would be keenly interested in maintaining Maatsen’s talents for years to come.
‘Burnley FC are planning to make the transfer of 21-year-old Dutch left-back Ian Maatsen permanent.’
It of course remains to be seen whether the transfer team at Chelsea are equally as open to such a prospect, however, with the club’s gifted young full-back known to be held in high regard in west London.
