The key area seemingly being targeted is central midfield. This makes sense given N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are out of contract next summer and the former has become very injury prone.
It emerged recently that Chelsea failed with a £50m bid for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia after missing out on Ajax’s Edson Alvarez on a frantic deadline day this past summer.
And now, it appears Chelsea will go back in for Romeo Lavia.
Super-agent Haydn Dodge recently spoke out about Todd Boehly and his plans to put an executive board together.
When doing so, he added that Lavia is one of the players top of the Blues’ January transfer list:
“Todd Boehly is about to put an executive board together consisting of three people. The three people are Stuart Webber, Christian Vivel, and Joe Shields,” he said.
Lavia joined Southampton from Manchester City over the summer and had a superb start to life with the Saints, including playing a key role in a 2-1 win over Chelsea.
The Belgian has been sidelined with a hamstring problem since that game, but returned over the weekend vs Newcastle.
