An insight into the expected terms of Barcelona’s imminent deal for Manchester City star Joao Cancelo has been provided on Thursday evening.
The name of full-back Cancelo, of course, has long taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the blue half of Manchester.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Portuguese, out of favour under the watch of Pep Guardiola, had been identified as a chief target on the part of the powers that be at the Camp Nou.
With Cancelo himself understood to be keen on the prospect of linking up with Xavi Hernandez’s squad, negotiations, in turn, have long been kicked into gear between the respective boards at Barca and City.
The former, when all is said and done, are expected to land the defender on a season-long loan.
What, though, of his future beyond the summer of 2024? Will Cancelo stay put? Or return to base at The Etihad?
The info comes courtesy of Ferran Martinez of Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, who points towards Cancelo being set to remain a Barcelona for years to come.
This comes amid claims that the Blaugrana are ready to commit to a mandatory purchase clause upon the conclusion of the 29-year-old’s loan terms.
The clause in question will see the Camp Nou brass fork over a sum in the region of €25 million.
