An insight into the terms of the new contract set to be handed to Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has been provided on Saturday evening.
For those not aware, the subject of Xavi’s future has long emerged as a major talking point in Catalunya’s capital.
This comes with the former Blaugrana midfielder’s current deal due to expire in the summer of 2024.
Despite having romped to the La Liga title in his first full season in the dugout last time out, many of a Barca persuasion remain on the fence when it comes to Xavi’s credentials as the man to lead the club forward.
The Camp Nou hierarchy, though, have on the other hand not been shy in providing their public backing to the Spanish tactician.
In turn, it has long been rumoured that it is more a matter of when than if he is in line for a new contract, with an official announcement on the matter as good as imminent.
Well, as alluded to above, on Saturday, an inside look into precisely that has been forthcoming online.
The info comes courtesy of Luis Rojo of Spanish outlet Marca, with it claimed that, surprisingly, Barca’s boss will initially only see his contract extended for 12 extra months.
On the financial front, though, the 43-year-old is in line for a significant increase, with his salary expected to be doubled.
