Bayern Munich shocked many football fans last night as they decided to sack Julian Nagelsmann.
The Bavarians had been enjoying a strong season sat just one point off the top of the Bundesliga and with a perfect record in the Champions League.
Bayern have won all eight of their European matches this season and have conceded just two goals in the competition.
Overall, Nagelsmann’s record this season stood at an impressive 37 games played, 112 goals scored and just 3 losses.
So, it begs the question, why exactly did the German champions sack the 35-year-old…

According to Bild, Bayern opted to sack Nagelsmann for three key reasons:
- A lack of consistency in 2023
- Key players no longer backing him
- To avoid missing out on Thomas Tuchel
Bayern have dropped 10 points in the Bundesliga this season and subsequently fallen behind Borussia Dortmund.
He had also started to lose the dressing room with certain key players no longer backing him.
These players did not trust him and his tactical decisions were being brought into question.
And a key factor in his dismissal was Bayern being desperate not to miss out on Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea back in September.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Tottenham were both interested in appointing him.
Bayern, therefore, decided to act quickly so as not to miss out on him again.
