Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Red Devil Bruno Fernandes would ‘probably have a statue at the Emirates’ if he played for Arsenal, such has been his impression on the Premier League.

The Portuguese midfielder arrived at Old Trafford in January 2020 for £60m, and has proved quite the hit for the most part, though there are those that have their complaints over his attitude at times.

In his 178 outings for the Manchester side, he has returned 61 goals and 53 assists, though his campaign this time around has been less productive.

Operating in a slightly deeper role under Erik ten Hag’s leadership, he has found the net on six occasions and provided seven more assists in the Premier League this season.

Despite this, Ferdinand, who spent 12 years with the Red Devils, hasn’t stopped singing his praises, and took to social media earlier in the week to take a jab at Arsenal, reflecting the success of the midfielder.

“Did you see Bruno’s numbers? Wow. The guy – it’s remarkable what he is doing. If he was at Arsenal he’d probably have a statue now at the Emirates with the numbers he has done!”, Ferdinand told FIVE YouTube channel.

“Does Bruno take the captaincy next year? 100 per cent, I think he does. Since Bruno signed [for Man Utd] he has been the most impactful player we have had. He’s wearing the armband while [Harry] Maguire doesn’t play. I think it is natural progression for him to be captain next season.”
