An update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star Ronald Araujo has come to the fore late on Thursday evening.
For those not aware, Araujo set pulses racing across the Barca fanbase in the lead-up to the international break.
This came after word was forthcoming in the aftermath of the club’s crunch downing of Clasico rivals Real Madrid that the defender had picked up a thigh injury:
“The first team player Ronald Araujo has an injury in the adductor of the left thigh. He is out of action and his evolution will mark his availability,” the Blaugrana announced.
Araujo, as a result, was ruled out of Uruguay’s friendly meetings with both Japan and South Korea.
All associated with Barcelona, in turn, have since been forced to wait out a further update on the 24-year-old’s likely return date.
The info comes courtesy of Javi Miguel of Diario AS, who has revealed that Araujo is expected to sit out this weekend, when Xavi Hernandez and co. kick their pursuit of the La Liga title back into gear in a trip to Elche.
Crucially, though, it is added that the no-nonsense stopper should be back fit and available to feature from the off when Barca welcome Real Madrid to the Camp Nou, for the 2nd leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final showdown between the clubs next Wednesday night.
Ronald Araujo is expected to miss the match against Elche, but he should be available to play El Clasico.
