Barcelona legend Ronaldinho has issued his response, after his son put pen to paper on terms with the Spanish heavyweights.
Ronaldinho, of course, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the storied history of Barcelona.
Across five seasons on the books at the Camp Nou, the Brazilian racked up a pair of La Liga titles, to go along with a Spanish Super Cup, the Champions League, and a Ballon d’Or crown.
Could his son, though, one day go on to emulate his father in earning icon status with the Blaugrana?
As alluded to above, on Thursday, such a possibility became an altogether more real one.
This comes after Barca released an official statement, confirming that Joao Mendes has signed a contract with the club.
He is now expected to see out the remainder of the season at U19 level.

And, as alluded to above, one individual who appears to be over the moon with news of Mendes’ move to Catalunya becoming a permanent one is his father, Ronaldinho.
Taking to his official Twitter account late on Thursday evening, the one-time Camp Nou standout unveiled a message of support, reading:
‘May God continue to light your path, son!’
