Spain’s footballers celebrated their Euro 2024 triumph tonight with a ceremony at the Plaza Cibeles in the centre of Madrid.
The party came 24 hours after Spain beat England 2-1 in Berlin to win the European Championship for a record fourth time.
The players flew back from Germany this morning, landing in Madrid just after 2pm local time. They visited the home of King Felipe – who was also in Berlin for the final – before a reception with the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

An open-top bus then took the squad around the streets of the Spanish capital, ending at the Cibeles where thousands of fans had gathered to welcome back their heroes.
All the players went on stage, including 17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal.
Captain Alvaro Morata acted as compere before leading the chants of “Champions of Europe”.
Spain were deserved winners of the Euros having won all seven games. They also had the best player in Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
