A series of statistics, showcasing the complete nature of Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez’s latest performance for the club, have come to the fore late on Saturday evening.
Midfielder Fernandez, of course, was afforded his 2nd start in Blues colours earlier today.
After drawing mixed reviews for his debut display in a London derby with Fulham last time out, the Argentine joined Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a new-look midfield pairing for another capital showdown – on this occasion against West Ham.
And, over the course of the 90 minutes, Fernandez quickly went about providing Chelsea’s supporters with a glimpse into the stellar characteristics he is set to add to the club’s engine room ranks over the years to come.
En route to an eventual 1-1 stalemate, the 22-year-old was everywhere, carrying the ball out of defence, setting attacks into motion, breaking the lines, and winning back possession time and time again.
In turn, it came as little surprise when Fernandez – who also bagged the assist for Joao Felix’s opener – was ultimately rewarded with Man of the Match honours.
As per statisticians Opta, Fernandez, on Saturday, stood as the Chelsea player with the most:
- Completed passes
- Tackles won
- Ball recoveries
1 – Along with assisting his team’s only goal, no Chelsea player completed more passes (84), recovered possession more often (7) or made more tackles (3) than Enzo Fernández against West Ham. General. pic.twitter.com/b7wizghrEJ
