Viewers of Sunday’s showdown between Spain and Germany have flooded to social media, to unveil a collective claim regarding the quality on show.
One of the headline fixtures of the World Cup’s group stages was of course played to completion a short time ago.
The matchup in question saw two sides fresh off altogether contrasting results on opening day – Spain and Germany – go head to head at the Al Bayt Stadium.
It was of course the former who headed into proceedings with spirits in an altogether more positive place, on the back of a seven-goal drubbing of Costa Rica on opening day.
Germany, on the other hand, were desperate for a bounce-back result, after slipping to a shock defeat at the hands of Japan.
When all was said and done this evening, though, the two sides could not be separated, en route to a 1-1 stalemate.

Germany, though, soon hit back in decisive fashion, bagging a much-needed point courtesy of an equally impressive finish on the part of Niclas Fullkrug.
Die Mannschaft, in turn, remain in with a shot of marching on to the World Cup’s knockout rounds.

On the back of proceedings coming to a close in Al Khor on Sunday, though, it is not the game’s repercussions when it comes to the coming rounds of the tournament which took centre stage in the chatter amongst fans.
Instead, focus was shifted towards the quality on show across the 90 minutes of action.
A host of world football’s finest were on display during the showdown, as key battles played out all over the Al Bayt Stadium pitch.
And, evidently, supporters of both countries were joined by neutrals in being thoroughly impressed by the standard of football on show, with droves having gone as far as to label the clash ‘the best’ of the Qatar tournament to date:
That was quite easily the best and most entertaining game of this world cup. Brilliant performance from both teams.
