A.F.C Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has just signed a contract extension with the club, meaning he is now committed to the team until 2026. He has been offered a salary of £1 Million to stay. This extension comes after Iraola guided the team to its highest-ever point total in the Premier League. This means that Iraola will be working alongside Bournemouth in next year’s Premier League season.
Andoni Iraola was previously manager at Rayo Vallencano but moved over to replace Gary O’Neil, A.F.C Bournemouth’s last manager. However, it was a rough start for Iraola and the team, which lost their first 9 games of the season; fortunately, this streak was broken when they played against Burnley at the end of October.
The team’s current total of 48 points puts them in 11th position, just behind Brighton, who also have 48 points. Fans are hoping for a win against Chelsea in the final game of the season to secure them a top-half finish. This is such a significant improvement from previous seasons that Andoni Iraola has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award. Other nominees include Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), and Unai Emery (Aston Villa). This is an impressive feat, considering the other nominees are the managers of clubs currently dominating the table.
All this said, this contract extension is an exciting moment for Bournemouth supporters, the team, and, of course, Andoni Iraola, who has said, “I’m very happy to sign the contract. For me, it is a matter of renewing the confidence from both sides” and “We have had a good experience with our first season together in the Premier League, and I am happy that both sides want to continue the relationship further”.
