Tottenham Hotspur have, late on Sunday, released a statement in response to the racially-motivated abuse directed at star attacker Son Heung-min.
Spurs, of course, were back in action a short time ago.
Fresh off a disappointing Champions League defeat at the hands of AC Milan in midweek, the Lilywhites welcomed capital rivals West Ham United to north London, eyeing a swift return to winning ways.
And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what stand-in head coach Cristian Stellini’s troops managed.
After Emerson Royal kicked the scoring into gear early in the 2nd-half, the aforementioned Son Heung-min rounded out a comfortable 2-0 triumph for Tottenham just minutes after emerging from the bench.

As alluded to above, though, an otherwise stellar day’s work for the north Londoners on Sunday was soured considerably by a fresh round of abuse directed at goalscorer Son.
And Spurs, in turn, have since had their say.
Taking to the club’s online platforms, the capital giants released a statement, defending their gifted goalscorer, as well as calling for ‘social media companies and authorities to take action’:
We have been made aware of the utterly reprehensible online racist abuse directed at Heung-Min Son during today’s match, which has been reported by the Club. We stand with Sonny and once again call on the social media companies and authorities to take action. pic.twitter.com/afKtG6YNt3
